About us

We are part of the Gainsborough District Scouts which includes groups in and around Gainsborough.  Ther are three groups in the town having our own Headquarters situated on Whiteswood Lane although we seem to attract members from all over the town as well as the villages around Gainsborough.

Our group is open to both Girls and Boys and consists of the following sections:

Beaver Scouts (6-8years old) meet weekly all through the year. The Beaver Scout Motto used to be 'Fun & Friends' so the weekly meetings consists of games, stories, craft activities and occasionally trips to places such as the fire station.

Cub Scouts (8 - 101/2 years old) also meet weekly. In 2000 we opened the doors for girls to join us and are happy to say that we have a number of girls enjoying all the fun that we have to offer. We do lots of activities and play games each week as well as making friends. During the year we will be camping with our Cubs in the County at Lincub 2010.

Scouts (101/2 - 14 years old) meet every week for girls and Boys. During the year we participate in many activities, here are just a selection : Camping, Hiking, Climbing, Abseiling, Pioneering, Canoeing, Swimming, Air Rifle Shooting, Motor Mechanics and many more.
During the weekly meetings as well as the odd game we also learn many new skills (such as survival, cooking and first aid) which we can put to good use during the activities we do outside the Headquarters.
Every summer we spend a week under canvas at an International Jamboree, last year we attended Nyjam 2009 and this summer we will joining others at Norjam 2010. During these jamborees we participate in many activities and also hav the opportunity to meet Scouts and Guides from all over the World.

Explorer Scouts (14 - 18 years old) are not really part of our group as Explorer Scouts are a District Unit.  As our District is so spread out most groups retain their Explorer Scouts, as we do, meeting with other District Explorers from time to time.  Our Explorers meet the first Monday of each month to plan their activities, they are also invited to attend most of the Scout Troop's activities.
